Shipping from Dalian: Packing and Container Loading for Oak Lamella

Between our workshop and your press line the material gets loaded, shipped, unloaded and stored. Get the packing wrong and all the grading and calibrating upstream is wasted.

Our standard packing

  1. Sealed ends — end sealer applied after the kiln to control end checking;
  2. Packs by specification — one length, width, thickness and grade per pack, never mixed;
  3. Strapping — cross straps tensioned so packs hold together through handling;
  4. Wrapping — full wrap against moisture and dust;
  5. Pallets or bearers — forklift ready;
  6. Marking — specification, grade, quantity and batch number on every pack.

Fumigation and heat treatment

Whether IPPC heat treatment or fumigation is required depends on the destination's phytosanitary rules and the wood packaging used. State the requirement on the order and we will arrange it and supply the certificates.

Container loading

Lamella is dense, so a 20' container usually reaches its weight limit before its volume limit. Reconcile actual net weights with us before loading to avoid overweight penalties. Packs are loaded tight against each other, with airbags where needed to stop movement at sea.

Conditioning on arrival

We ship at 8–12% moisture content. Your workshop's equilibrium may differ from the conditions in transit, so unwrap and let the material sit in workshop conditions for a few days before pressing — particularly the wide sizes.

Worth writing into the contract

  • Pieces, net and maximum gross weight per pallet;
  • Whether IPPC heat treatment is required;
  • Marking content and language;
  • Loading method and container type;
  • Documents travelling with the goods — packing list, kiln record, inspection report.
