Details
White ash (Fraxinus) is the species sold in China as “bai la mu”. It is tough and elastic with a clear, flowing grain; sapwood is near white and heartwood a light brown. It machines and stains well and is used in large volumes by furniture plants.
Description: Sawn to thickness, kiln dried, calibrated, sized and end sealed. Heart/sap colour difference is natural to the species; colour-selected (white only) or mixed material can be supplied to contract.

- Average weight: approx. 675 kg/m³
- Average volumetric shrinkage (green to 6%): approx. 13.3%
- Modulus of elasticity: approx. 12,000 MPa
- Hardness: approx. 5,870 N
Applications
Edge-glued panels and furniture faces, bed and chair components, door cores, sports goods and tool handles, interior mouldings.
